Answer
While the theoretical maximum speed is 8000mb/s, the actual speed you will be able to obtain will vary according to a number of factors. Distance from the exchange, condition of the line between the exchange and your house, and even weather can influence the speed of your connection. It is not possible to predict what your actual speed will be prior to installing the service on the line. It is not even necessarily a good guide to see what speed neighbours receive, as two adjacent houses still use different wires, and may even have completely different paths back to their local exchange.
Generally, the further away you are from the exchange, the slower speeds will be. It is important to note that this is the distance that the copper wire travels, and not the direct distance as the crow flies.
