We want to pay by BPay (or other payment method). Why do you still want a signed direct debit authority?

Answer

Our profit margins are deliberately kept quite slim to ensure we offer you the best value service we can. For that reason, one or two major customers forgetting to pay their bill on time could seriously impact on our continuing ability to operate. The direct debit authority provides us with an additional avenue to collect late payments and means we do not need to penalise everyone with higher charges to cover possible late payments. We do not want to have to use it (and have never yet), but its a form of insurance. Pay your bills on time and it we will all be happy that we have still never had to use it.

We do not always request a direct debit authority when people elect to pay by other means. Whether we do or not will depend on the service(s) you are ordering, our impression of the volume of calls/usage you will be making, and other factors. Note that this is not going to be limited to high-volume customers. Customers who are only going to make occassional use of our service may also be asked to complete one, as they are more likely to overlook payment because it is not regular.

If you really do not want to complete a direct debit authority, we are also happy to discuss accepting a bond - that is, a payment of an agreed amount that will be kept in our trust account as security should you ever fail to pay. If you always pay your bills, that bond is then returned to you when you terminate your service with us. Contact us at sales(at)mail.watersprite.net.au or on 1300 720 656 if you wish to discuss this option.
