About our telephone services
Water Sprite offer a full range of telephone services, including:
- residential and business full-service phones (packages including line rental)
- Mobile phone service with or without a phone
- preselect long-distance/mobile/international
- call-override options for cheaper phone rates while keeping your current full service
provider
- 1300 and 1800 numbers
- Voice-Over-IP (VOIP) services
- Fax-to-email numbers
- Interactive Voice Response (IVR) services
What is a full-service phone line?
This is a normal phone line service, probably what you get from your current provider.
The line rental and all calls are directed through your providers network and are billed
together by your provider. Please note that some plans (including Water Sprites) do not
state their line rental componant seperately - this does not mean they are not full-service
plans.
What is pre-select?
Pre-select is where your phone line is ordered and billed by another provider, but is
set to automatically direct all mobile, long-distance and international calls through our
service. You do not need to dial an access code or do anything special - you use our
rates for those calls automatically. You will still get a bill for line rental, local calls, and
special calls (1900, reverse charge, and similar) from your telephone line provider. Some
providers actively discourage people from pre-selecting other providers by charging you
extra for your line rental. Please check the provisions of your plan, and perhaps consider
using a Water Sprite full service (landline) plan instead.
What is override?
An override service is used in conjunction with a full-service phone line from us or
another provider. With an override service, you dial a 4 digit access code (1423 for our
service) immediately before dialing the number. You do not wait for dial tone after the
access code or enter a PIN code. For example, to call our managing director on his mobile, you
would dial 1423 0411 8 999 86. You must be registered with our service before this will
work, as our systems need to know who you are for billing purposes.
